Didn’t know this was coming, seems a bit overpriced at $7.99, and 350mb of space seems, likewise, excessive. I’m also not entirely sure how the pointing mechanics will work, as a lot of the targets in Monkey Island are quite small. This works great for a mouse-based pointing system, but when your pointer is a human finger that Apple says should take up a minimum of a 40×40 pixel square… maybe not so much.
This is HUGE news. Andy notes Eurogamer’s estimates: $10 billion dollars amongst 1 million workers.
Benjamin White is offering stitched Haggle Man buttons for everyone who sends him the receipt for their copy of Retro Game Challenge. It is NOT the best game I’ve ever played, but it’s one that has given me loads of fun for a pretty small price.
If Game Center CX 2 doesn’t get localized, it will be a real shame.
In what can only be described as a historical reenactment of a Street Fighter bonus stage.
Rusty, Hank, Dean, Brock, Dr. Orpheus and Triana. This is pretty great.
flixel is a completely free collection of Actionscript 3 files that helps organize, automate, and optimize Flash games; an object-oriented framework that lets anyone create original and complex games with thousands of objects on screen in just a few hours, without using any of the Flash libraries.
Doesn’t require and actively advises AGAINST using Adobe Flash. Lots of things happening in the 2d games space right now.
20- years on, one of the writers gives it a spin. I’d give a lot for a Valve-style commentary system in the upcoming remake.
For once, I agree with EA. Activision abandoned the project, dropped it entirely, and now that it is finally on track for release (Rocktober 13th) they’re trying to block it.
Fuck you, Activision.
John Harris concludes his look at the 2009 7-Day Roguelike competition.
Johnny’s a crazy smart guy, and this is a fun bit of insight into the project.

This is very good news if you’re a fan of roguelikes. Shiren The Wanderer for the DS is one of my favorite games.
For diff’rent folks:
Whoo boy. So far includes Sonic, call of Duty 2, Crackdown and Bioshock Mass Effect. The fact that I have to physically get up off the couch and go to a story to buy games for my Xbox is probably the only reason I’m not homeless right now. This is huge news. Obviously this won’t be the standard for some time, because they can’t afford to piss off the retail channel. Still.
Update: They’re also remaking the original Monkey Island, with the help of Lucasarts.
Telltale is making new, episodic, Monkey Island games using the same engine as their Wallace and Gromit, Sam & Max, and Strong Band’s Cool Game For Attractive People series. The question is: How will they stack up without the writing of Tim Schafer?
If you buy stuff from Telltale, use this link and I get a small kickback.
Tecmo Super Coach is a ROM hack for Tecmo Super Bowl (NES) that adds and changes a whole bunch of stuff.
Apparently an alpha version, I’ve been waiting for this since Square Enix cease-and-desisted the project a few weeks ago. Again, way to drop the ball, Square.
A video game based on the “Raiders of the Lost Arcade” segment of the Futurama episode “Anthology of Interest 2“.
